We recently had an amazing time in the Kalahari and want to share the spoils with YOU (see bottom of the post for exclusive discounts & a fab giveaway to stay here too)!

Only 5km (3.1 miles) from the Twee Rivieren gate of the Kgalagadi National Transfrontier Park, the Kgalagadi Lifestyle Lodge offers the perfect affordable, alternative to staying in the national park which is home to a plethora of wildlife and birdlife from jackals to lions, spotted hyena, leopard, gemsbok and cheetah among many others.

Kgalagadi is family run lodge that was built in 2011 by the Koortzen family who have since become inextricably involved in the local community owing to the fact that so many locals have worked and still work for the family. We must mention that the service from all staff was outstanding and everyone on the team is very friendly!

The lodge has a wide range of accommodation suitable for all budgets including Luxury, Family, Standard, Business, Luxury Camp Chalets, and campsites each with own ablution. All chalets have air-conditioning, DSTV, and outside braai facilities.

Strategically placed, the chalets make every morning and evening a special treat. Seeing the sunrise and sunset over Botswana from your front porch each day, really is an unforgettable experience. Due to the Kalahari red sand below the sun and moon, everything turns red. It’s truly a magical sight. A few steps behind the chalets, over the red dunes, make for a brilliant photo opportunity… they also have various animals roaming the property including kudu, eland, various birdlife and an emu who came to visit us at our chalet.

They have an on site restaurant, The Black Mane Butcher and Grill, where we indulged in mouth-watering traditional South African Kalahari dishes with a modern twist. And at very affordable prices too! If you are looking to braai at your chalet, there is also a shop with groceries, fresh fruit, vegetables, freshly baked bread, butchery, and everything else you might need!

Soak up the desert sun rays on a pool lounger, sipping on a Kalahari craft beer and refresh with a cool dip in the pool.

The lodge also offers 4×4 hire with Oryx 4×4 Hire to use for a self drive game drive at the Kgalagadi National Transfrontier Park. A great idea if you wish to explore the parks 4×4 trails.
