Mad Maxx
Max Peterson has been active for as long as the Troopers have, beginning his career in 1998! Born in California and raised in France, Max’s calling has taken him around the globe. His psytrance career took off in 2000 when he co-formed Biodegradable with members of CPU and Mekkanikka in the Bay Area. In 2001 he went on to co-form the legendary Sirius-Isness. After 3 albums and a non-stop international touring roster (which included Trooping the Groove in SA in 2006), Max formed his own solo project Mad Maxx and his own record label, United Beats in 2007. Since then he’s collaborated with a host of artists (including Painkiller, XSI, Voyager, Digital Talk, Audio-X and John Phantasm) and has a new side-project, Wild Monkeys (with members of XSI). He also has a rocking new album called Sonic Architects that features some of his seminal collaborative work. He describes his own unique sound as psytrance with a deep edge, a strong kick and ominous bass line, tempered by a playful electro touch and lingering nostalgic atmospheres. Apart from his renowned production skills, he’s also a legendary live act who knows how to read and please a crowd! Catch him weaving his magic at Vision Serpent 2012!
Waio
Hailing from Brazil, Waio is a highly talented musician, gifted programmer and extremely likeable individual with a serious passion for psytrance and electrosonic experimentation. He began his career as psytrance’s very own boy-wonder at the tender age of 17 by playing at parties and psytrance festivals around the world. Collaborations with the likes of Pixel, Black & White, Avalon & Tristan have further honed his expertise, which is evident in his excellent releases, which include several EPs, tracks on compilations and a host of production credits. His dexterity as an electronic musician are complemented by his software skills; each of his ‘smart’ live sets are ‘designed’ using software that he created himself. Waio’s first visit to SA was in June 2011 when he played a legendary set for the Troopers at Metamorph. This time he’s back for the great outdoors with plans to push the limits of Brazilian psytrance at Vision Serpent
Journey
Journey is the psychedelic solo project of Free-Spirit label manager Jay OM. With a host of releases under his belt, Jay is a relentless psy-traveller who has played at a host of festivals worldwide including Boom and Universo Paralello. Aside from managing his own UK-based label, Jay has a number of side projects, collaborations and promotional events on the back-burner. His reputation in the global trance circuit as an energetic, meticulous, and industrious individual is almost unmatched. His commitment and enthusiasm for psytrance is infectious. No stranger to SA, Jay has previously played for Origin and Vortex so he understands the scene well. Since then, he’s been around the world and back several times and has some brand new psy-grooves up his sleeve to shake up the dancefloor at Vision Serpent.
