In 2007, two fledgling production companies, both with a massive passion for psytrance, discovered they shared a unique vision for the local scene.

Both realized how under exposed Cape Town was to the insane amount of emerging global talent.
MMD Records, with their dark mind bending, night time influences and Beartrap Productions, trending towards a more full on, bad ass, funky, daytime sound decided to merge this vision and launched an event called DEMANUFACTURE – that was where it all began.

Their intention to deliver an experience that is fresh & unique, but still true to the essence of psy, cape town style, while offering the dance floor ground breaking, psy-defining international acts, has been half a decade in the making.

And now, for the fifth time, Beartrap and MMD are proud to be able to continue with this vision as we present another South African debut appearance – an act, that, in a word describes exactly what REMANUFACTURE is all about…. Cape Town, get ready for one of 3D Visions hottest acts!

After some years as a duo, Smashed became a solo project, driven by Romain Escorsa.

He quickly established himself in Barcelona and when he was recruited for 3D Vision Records he joined the family of artists like Absolum, CPU, Abomination etc.

With his career coming full circle, Romain began to focus on refining the very unique signature sound that is Smashed, and, over time, it has become more assertive and very compelling. This, in conjunction with his formidable production skills is why Romain is regarded as a top quality hi-tech psy trance producer.

His dedication & commitment to electronic music has positioned him as one of the genres most referenced artists and his relentless drive to uncover new techniques & shape our experiences on the dance floor has drawn other artists to him.
The energy which is the result of these collisions, has given rise to numerous successful collaborative tracks with Ex-Gen, Absolum and Concept, to name a few.

During his career he has enjoyed sharing the stage with legends like GMS, our own Lost and Found, Infected Mushroom, Magneto, Khopat (and more) in clubs and at outdoor festivals around the globe.

And now, he is excited to share his life long passion with the Mother City at one of it’s most prolific festivals!

The venue:

We return to our Rock Fortress at Ground Zero in the beautiful Thewaterskloof area for this event.

The dance floor will be re.manufactured above the Theewaterskloof valley, surrounded by majestic mountain peaks and flanked on one side by a river which meanders into the valley through the venue.

Secluded and surrounded on 3 sides by stone steeples makes this naturally formed, sound proof amphitheatre, the perfect location for this Smashed in Cape Town.

Not only is it’s earthly awesomeness something to behold, but at night, the monstrous stone wall doubles as a backdrop for psychedelic visuals and out-of-this-world eye candy

And then, by day, the setting transforms to reveal the picturesque landscape, lush vineyards, mountain peaks crystal blue waters.

There’s not much that can be done to improve this venue, but a few enhancements to this stunning space will make it a little more comfortable

new “pods” will be cleared for shaded camping long the road leading to dance floor

more space will be allocated & levelled to accommodate our growing parking needs

in order to make the scout for a prime camping pod easier, drivers can make use of the drop of zone. Drop your gear and posse off there before making your way to the parking areas

The directions:

GPS it: 34° 04’44.64″ S 19° 17′ 07.57″ E
