Originally from East London, this Durban-based beauty is making waves in the modelling scene. Having represented the Natal Sharks as one of the ‘Flasher Girls’, and Monster Energy drink as their global brand ambassadors, there is no stopping Nicole Naude. With her sultry yet playful looks, this striking young talent is bubbly, outdoorsy and fun to be around!
YM: When did you first begin modelling?
NN: I first began modelling for fun, and started entering pageants at quite a young age. I also did freelance shoots when I first moved to Durban in 2005. I was then fortunate enough to be discovered by a modelling agency when I was 18, and the timing was perfect – as I had gained a bit of experience and was ready to be part of an official agency.
YM: Which agencies are you currently with?
NN: My mother agency is Models International in Durban (where I currently reside) and Que Model Management in Johannesburg.
YM: What is your favourite modelling work to do?
NN: I love editorial shoots. Especially photographic modelling and being in front of the camera. It’s really fun and exciting! I feel as if I’m onstage – which is ideal for me, as I am currently majoring in drama at University, so being in front of the camera doesn’t feel like ‘work’ to me.
YM: When you’re not busy modelling what do you like doing in your spare time?
NN: I love to be with my friends. To me, my social life plays a huge role in who I am. The awesome friends and family I have keep me humble and happy. I love seeing new places and being active. I am a super-busy young lady so sitting indoors is not something I like doing!
YM: What are some of the biggest modelling jobs that you’ve worked on?
NN: I’ve had the opportunity to work with great brands such as Jockey, Mr. Price, Lizzy, Jeep and The Hub to name a few. I was also in the December issue of Men’s Health which was one of the more exciting shoots.
YM: Tell us about your recent experience in becoming a finalist in the Miss Monster Energy International pageant and in the Sports Illustrated model search for 2011.
NN: I was lucky enough to be an official international Monster Girl for the Monster Energy Drink pageant, which was an honour, as there were 12 of us selected from around the world – there are only two from SA. It’s an awesome brand and this year we’ll represent the brand as ambassadors and get to travel to any Monster events. I am very excited for the upcoming opportunities that it will bring! Being in the top 10 for Sports Illustrated was a huge honour and it felt great to be featured in such a prestigious magazine.
YM: What are your must-have fashion items for this summer?
NN: My must-have fashion items are definitely anything different that shows off your unique personality. A bikini is definitely a must – as this heat needs to be enjoyed in the sunshine at the beach! Team this with the sexiest sunglasses you have and a white summer dress with bold sandals. This looks flattering on most ladies. Most importantly – wear a huge smile – it will rub off onto those around you.
