Soul Candi Records brings you Candi Roots Volume 2. After the successful launch of Candi Roots Vol. 1, selling more than 8000 units, Soul Candi is more determined than ever to help launch new DJs and music producers into the competitive industry of Djing and music production.
Candi Roots 2 consists of three CD’s produced by Bob’Ezy, V.Underground and Mindgames.
Since being introduced to the DJ world by Dr. Duda in 2003, Bob’Ezy has been pulling together kwaito, tribal, deep and soulful elements to create floor-shaking masterpieces. In 2008 he teamed up with Durban artists DJ Menace and Smallz to co-produce the club phenomenon, “Money Maker” which became the one of the biggest tracks of the year. Bob’Ezy went on to produce Smallz’ Money Spender album with the hits tracks ‘Money Spender’ and ‘Zulu’. He has produced for his childhood heroes like Tokzen, Ganyani, Mbuso and Sox and newcomers like DJ Aero, The Game and Hypnosis just to name a few.
Bob’Ezy continues to play all over the country and continent, rocking clubs in Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Angola, Botswana and Swaziland. If the past is anything to go by, his latest music creations for Candi Roots Vol. 2 will prove to be chart-topping.
V.Underground is one of the most exciting new talents to emerge from South Africa’s deep house scene. He co-owns a record label, Ultratone, that has had chart-topping remixes hitting #3 and #30 on the international download portal, Tracksource; has had releases on long list of respected labels; and has remixed a score of local and international artists—but he’s just getting warmed up.
After school he completed a course at the Soul Candi Institute of Music where V.Underground was offered an internship to build his repertoire of skills as an engineer and in-house producer. This also gave him the opportunity to work with some of the prominent names in the industry—Dr.Duda, RJ Benjamin, Antonio Lyons, Lolo and Mphoza among others.
V.Underground has also worked with international artists such as Cofano from Italy, the Brazilian Soul Crew and various US artists. Black Coffee, Culoe de Song, Lulo Café and DJ China are just a few local luminaries he has shared the stage with.
The three-man production, Mindgames is a unique new force in South African dance music. Master networker, Bobby is a graduate from the Soul Candi Institute of Music. This multi-talented DJ and producer has perfected his production skills to give the group their polished sound. Vocalist, Charlie took the stage for the first time at the age of thirteen and has since worked with the likes of Dr Duda and Blackwhole. One of his tracks was given the remix treatment by French deep house legend DJ Rocco—proof that Charlie’s voice is hitting all the right notes. His voice and lyrics gives Mindgames a distinctive soulful feel.
DJ/producer, Corny has learnt to mix in 2000 while attending the Tshwane University of Technology. Hardworking and naturally gifted, his interest in deep house motivated him to learn production and in 2007 met and joined the Mindgames band.
Mindgames has an undeniable chemistry in studio and on stage. Their combination of innovative digital production techniques with the timeless appeal of soulful live vocals makes them a formidable team.
