Chart-topping and multiple award-winning George Ezra is currently on tour and blessed SA with two shows of which we attended the Cape Town show which took place on Wednesday, 12 July at Grand Arena, GrandWest.
George Ezra of course, put on one of his usual energetic and charismatic performances, accompanied by his deep and soulful voice. His setlist was a mix of his most popular hits, including “Budapest,” “Shotgun,” and “Blame It on Me,” as well as new material from his latest album “Gold Rush Kid” with the most memorable number being “Green Green Grass” in which he had the whole crowd singing along with him. His stage presence and ability to engage with the audience was nothing short of magical from start to finish.

While the British folk singer is a solo artist, he performed with an incredible band that usually accompanies him during his live performances. Collectively they put on an incredible show with a lot of humorous elements. Notably Ed Hodge who has played the bass guitar and has long been an integral part of the band’s rhythm section and the multi-talented Joe Steer on guitar, keys and even a whistle during their live performance on Wednesday evening. He contributes to the overall sound and instrumentation of the band – as well as a load of laughs.
Don’t miss his show at SunBet Arena, Time Square in Johannesburg tomorrow night, 15 July 2023.
