There was much oohing and aahing over the fact that a once manic, insane, epic (I could go on…) 3-day festival (looked forward to by many of thousands of Capetonians every year ) was now made into a one-dayer. And on a Sunday no less.

I must say I was one of those people. You see Ramfest was once my favourite festival and Nekkies, a perfect setting for camping, swimming and epic festivities. Looking back on the past few, I have very fond memories of acts such as Pendulum and Alkaline Trio among many spectacular local acts which performed alongside them and pretty much owned.

Well I have to say that, though the Ostrich Farm is not my favourite venue, the organisers certainly did a great job with it. And they outdid themselves line-up wise – welcoming back some of my old favourites like Fokof and The Narrow on the local front. While, standing out among the International acts of course being the super sexy AWOLNATION from the US and the super down to earth, and talented, Netsky of Belgium (who took “Best Upcoming Producer” at the Drum & Bass Arena Awards a couple years back!) – joining him on stage was the hilarious free-styling’s (and stage diving’s) by MC Darrison of the UK.

All in all it was an incredibly fun and memorable day in the very harsh sun but (being it was some 45 degree’s out) I would have liked to have been able to swim without bribing the security working the camping area.

Well done on taking the fest to new heights, Rammers!
