From one international icon to a local legendary band, the line-up for the South African leg of the TEXAS World Tour just keeps getting better. We Are Live, producers of the concert tour, have just announced that celebrated SA band Henry Ate will open for TEXAS at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town on Friday 8 December 2017 and Johannesburg’s Emmarentia Gardens on Sunday 10 December 2017.
This will be the first time that Henry Ate will perform as a full band since 2006, and will be made up of well-known session musicians. The band promises to deliver an unforgettable set featuring hit-making songs like “Just”, “Hey Mister”, “Henry”, “Eudaimonia”, “One Day Soon”, “Life”, “And And And” and many more.
Celebrated pop chanteuse Karma-Ann Swanepoel achieved national success in late 1996, at the age of 21, with the release of her debut album “Slap In The Face” under the moniker Henry Ate. Karma and Henry Ate spent much of the late 90’s and 2000’s releasing chart-topping albums, touring the world and performing alongside legends like Skunk Anansie.
In 2010, Karma went into the studio with Grammy award-winning engineer Francis Buckley to record alongside several of LA’s top studio musicians she’d connected with in LA. The resulting concept album, “Edison Project”, is a collection of some of Karma’s best work as a songwriter to date.
Now based in Portland, Oregon, Karma is excited to be travelling home this December to perform live to Cape Town and Johannesburg audiences when thousands turn out for TEXAS Live in South Africa for the First Time, Playing All Their Hits tour.
Tickets are on sale for R495 through Webtickets https://www.webtickets.co.za/event.aspx?itemid=1472017464 and selected Pick ‘n Pay stores.
