In the recently released, One For The Money (2012) the protagonist, Stephanie Plum (Kaherine Heigl), an unemployed lingerie saleswoman desperate for work and money, lands a job as a bail bondsman and bounty hunter at her cousin Vinnie’s company.
Vinnie presents her with an assignment which seems like a lucrative project considering her cash flow problems. The assignment is simple- as a bounty hunter she has to apprehend fugitives and or criminals who skipped their bail hearing. When she learns that she could earn herself 50 grand for bringing in Joe Morelli (Jason O’Mara), who happens to be an ex-boyfriend whom she holds a grudge against, she thinks the assignment so much easier and, sees earning the money as a satisfying victory which would be that much more rewarding in the end.
After numerous encounters with Joe, Stephanie is still unable to present him to the authorities. As an agent, she investigates the particulars of the case and murder of which Joe is accused. And when she enters a gym to question people during her investigation, she comes very close to being attacked and killed by a rapist but, then is saved by Joe. Eventually, she believes that Joe is innocent and together they set out to discover who the real killers are.
In attempt to solve the crime and unraveling the mystery, Stephanie’s journey leads her to make coincidental discoveries that become dangerous and life-threatening yet, also adventurous and exciting at the same time. Throughout, the film she tries just about everything to bring Joe to the authorities in exchange for the 50 grand – One For The Money of course.
