The Joburg Fringe is an independent art fair and organisation first launched in 2008, complementing the Joburg Art Fair. It’s an artist-run initiative with a petit but potent history that celebrates the inner city. 2011 sees the Joburg Fringe taking place in the South Point Precinct (corner Juta and Melle streets), with exhibitions, installations and screenings.

Pride Side Dish (29 and 30 Sept 2011), South Point Precinct, Braamfontein

A two-night, Braamfontein-based celebration of gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and lesbian theatre, art, film and music as a culturally-driven warm-up to Joburg Pride taking place on Saturday, 1 October. This is the first-ever expansion of the Pride brand since its establishment in 1990. The sexy Hotel Lamunu on De Korte Street is the perfect base camp for out-of-towners, located in the heart of all the Pride Side Dish action.
