The famous/infamous Britney Spears, in association with Elizabeth Arden, has announced that her latest fragrance will hit stores in January 2012. It is said to be a “sensual floral fragrance,” one that was inspired by the idea of glowing sensuality.
Spears commented: “I believe that all women can create their own world where they shine the brightest. It’s all about having the power and confidence to be yourself.”
The inspiration behind the new perfume is all a bit airy-fairy for my liking:
“A star shoots across the galaxy, cutting the still of darkness and burning through earth’s atmosphere as it makes its way towards our planet. We feel the heat of its glow on our skin and it’s brighter than ever before – radiant and intense. It’s Britney – transformed into something new, like nothing we’ve seen before – confident, stronger and more powerful than ever.
Britney is the center of the universe as her energy, femininity, and magnetism draw us in.
Breaking all boundaries, cosmic radiance invites every woman to go beyond this universe, to create her own world, a place where she shines the brightest.”
Sorry, what? It’s a scented liquid, not some kind of super power.
Perfumers Honorine Blanc and Harry Fremont, co-creators of the previous scents in the “radiance” line, infused a splash of succulent citrus, doses of luscious fruits and some sultry note of amber, sandalwood and liquid vanilla to create the newest addition.
And I’m not too sure about the gaudy-looking bottle either. Apparently the gemstones adorning it are supposed to represent the “femininity and breathtaking aura that ignites a woman’s power to shine,” but it looks rather bulky to me.
The new perfumes will be available early next year in selected Edgars, Red Square, Foschini and Truthworths stores. Bottles will sell for R345-00 (30ml) and R455-00 (100ml).
We here at YCLAD are eager to see (or should I say smell?) whether the scent will live up to its promises of superhuman and ethereal confidence.
